Ideals of DEC
Professional Practice
It is important to the Early Childhood Field because it tells me that I need to always be honest, and truthful. I should always be professional when working and talking with children and families. I should build relationships with the children and families and I should always remember that every child is an individual and should be use individual appropriate assessment tools.
Ideals of NAEYC
Ethical Responsibilities to Colleagues
This is important to the field of Early Childhood because it makes me realize that sharing information and having respect for my colleagues is essential to my profession. I believe that the way you treat your colleagues reflects the way you treat children.
Ethical Responsibilities to Families
This is important because when I show respect and support to the child's family, then I am showing respect and support to the child. As an Early Childhood provider I am always talking to parents and listening to what they have to say. Sometimes I have to give advice and do the best I can to help them.
Hi Emily
ReplyDeleteThe Codes of Ethics topics you choose are very important to the Early Childhood Field. We do have responsibility to our profession, our colleagues, and the children and families we serve. Thank you for sharing.
Good post. You picked and mentioned some great points. I agree that it is very important to show respect to other staff members, children, and families that we work with. Being a professional is also about building relationships with the children and families we work with. If we don't have a good relationship with the child and families, we will not be very effective when helping the child and family. We count on family support a lot when working with the child.
ReplyDeleteHi Emily,
ReplyDeleteI love that you said "...when I show respect and support for the child's family, then I am showing respect and support for the child." On a personal note, I would be very wary if I sent my little one to a center that didn't respect my requests to treat my child a certain way. If I didn't feel understood, empathized with, connected to, and respected as a parent, there isn't any way I would feel comfortable leaving my child. So thank you for saying that :)
Note of Thanks
