Personal Childhood Web

The 5 people who influenced me in my life are:
  • My mother who was a homemaker and did everything with me and my sister.
  • My father who worked and really didn't do a lot with me and my sister.
  • My sister who is older and taught me to stand up for myself.
  • My grandmother who came from Poland and didn't speak English.
  • My nana who came from Spain and taught me how to cook.
My mom was always there supporting me and taught me everything I know. My father taught me how to be strong and independent. My sister is my best friend and always makes me laugh. My grandmother and nana were always very loving to me. They were the first ones to teach me about different cultures and they taught me to always be kind to different types of people.

My Favorite Children's Book

"We All Sing with the Same Voice"
Authors:  J. Phillip Miller & Sheppard M. Greene
Illustrator: Paul Meisel

This is a multicultural sing-a-long book. It has become my favorite children's book because it shows children that we are all the same no matter where we come from. I love the song and when I play it for my class or other classrooms the children fall in love with the book and the song.

Quote about Children

We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forget that he is someone today.

The Year that Changed My Life

The year that changed my life was in August 2002. I had been teaching in the early childhood field for two years. The school year had just started and I had my first special needs class, 12 boys and no girls. It was a wonderful experience and the children taught me more than I could have ever imagined. This was the school year that made me realize how important being a teacher can be and that I wanted to be in educational field and help children for the rest of my life.

About Me

My name is Emily Elias and I have been a pre-school teacher for 12 years. I live in Tampa, Florida and I have no children and I am single. After graduation I would like to teach at a college or university.
